Forrest Boughner started Alpine Running Guides as a way to share his passion for trail running in the mountains. He grew up building tree forts at the base of a 12,000′ mountain and has been enthralled by outdoor challenges since then. Since hiking the Continental Divide Trail and moving to Montana, Forrest has dedicated most of his time to exploring the trails of Montana. He is currently working on a project to summit the highest point in each of the 64 mountain ranges in Montana. The Montana Mountain Project has helped Forrest increase his trail knowledge base throughout Montana. A good day for Forrest is spent above treeline followed by a generous helping of ice cream.
Sara Boughner was born and raised in Flagstaff, Arizona, and has always felt at home in the wilderness. After competing in track and field in high school and college, she discovered a love for the trails and started running longer distances. Her background as a river guide, and time spent navigating the Continental Divide Trail with Forrest fostered a love for spending extended periods of time outside. Since moving to Missoula in 2014, she has competed in several ultra trail races and assisted with teaching trail running classes. Sara will graduate with her Doctor of Physical Therapy from the University of Montana in 2019, and is excited to share her passion for the trails of Montana with others.
