Tucson, Arizona
Nestled in the heart of the Sonoran Desert, Tucson boasts an incredible diversity of wildlife and natural biomes. The elevation range spans from 2,000' on the valley floor to 9,000' on the top of Mount Lemmon, providing a range of habitat for flora, fauna, and trail runners.
Feb 27th - March 2nd
The end of February is when the sun becomes consistently warm in Tucson, and about the time we get tired of winter in snowbound states. It's the perfect time of year to get your trail legs back underneath you.
Premium Lodging
When not trail running, we'll be staying at Loews Ventana Canyon Resort. You'll have access to all their amenities, can book spa appointments, enjoy the heated pool and hot tub, play pickleball, or simply just sit and watch the gorgeous Arizona sunsets.
Ultra Tucson Itinerary
Here's a what your life will look like for your four days in the sunshine.
Day 1 - Arrival Day
Day 1: Arrive in Tucson and get picked up in the Alpine Running Guides shuttle to the Loews Ventana Canyon Resort. Meet your new running buddies and head out for a 5-7 mile shakeout trail run before the first dinner of the trip.
Day 2 - Desert Adventure
Wake-up, eat breakfast at the resort, then gear up for a 17 mile loop through epic desert canyons complete with water crossings and waterfalls. Afternoon recovery by the pool before dinner at one of our favorite restaurants.
Day 3: Sanoran Saguaro
Breakfast in the Resort before driving across town to run 15+ miles through Tucson's most epic desert trail system. Think saguaro cactus, lots of them. Lunch following the run at our favorite West side restaurant before heading back home.
Day 4: Reflect
Day 4: Early morning, near sunrise trail run to a viewpoint overlooking Tucson. Then back to the Resort for breakfast and sendoffs.
Premium Lodging
Throughout the weekend we'll be staying at Loews Ventana Canyon Resort. Loews sits at the mouth of Ventana Canyon in the foothills overlooking Tucson. The gorgeous property has plenty of space to stretch your legs for a sunset stroll, a pool and hot tub to soak your trail tired legs, and plenty of other amenities to help you relax and enjoy your time in Tucson.
Quality Time Together
We value time together as a group on, and off, the trail. We chose to stay at Loews because there are a number of fun, relaxing common areas where our group can hang out and connect throughout the weekend. Without sitting around a conference room table!
We value quality meals!
Tucson has an array of incredible restaurants that we will be sampling during the week. Some meals we will eat at the Resort, and others we will travel to to get the full experience. All our restaurant selections will have options for potential food preferences/allergies.
